Deep Impressions Advisory Statement

There are four renditions to our Deep Impressions Advisory Statement depending on type of earpiece and its use. Please select the appropriate DIA Statement per the options below.

Audio Earpieces

We have made a lot of earpieces for high end monitors and in most cases they have been for individuals that appreciate high fidelity and ambient noise isolation.  Most professional musicians and audiophiles are looking for a very full frequency response and maximum sound isolation with the earpieces.  The best way to provide this performance is with deep impressions.  Vigorous workouts will also benefit from deep impressions.  Our at-home kit provides a very good shallow impression to keep the earpiece locked in, but for peak performance a deep impression is required. Note: for Active Noise Reduction headsets, you may lose the ANR function without deep impressions, and also may lose some fidelity of the generic ear tips, without deep impressions.

If you need this peak performance I would highly suggest you obtain deep impressions from an audiologist or hearing aid center.  The impressions can usually be obtained for about $50.00 to $75.00 for the set, although they are becoming more expensive in some areas.  Any hearing aid center or audiologist can make deep impressions for you.  Google "Audiologist ________" with your zip code filled in for a list of close locations.  They will use a foam block and inject the material to provide you with a deep impression beyond the second bend of the ear canal which will enhance the performance of the custom earpieces.  The impression also needs to include the full concha and helix lock of the ear.  They will know what these terms mean.  The process is quick and painless and does provide a superior impression for high end users.

If you decide to proceed along this route I would e-mail you a lab order form.  You will print out this form and take it with you when you obtain the impressions.  Be sure to take the lab order form to the audiologist, that way the audiologist can read off the form that we need full shell including concha, full helix lock, full helix curl deep impressions beyond the second bend of ear canal and that full impressions must include the full helix, crus of the helix, tragus, and antitragus.  You will then send the impressions along with this lab order form directly to our lab in Oklahoma.  The lab address will be printed right on that order form.  You would not have to wait for anything else to come from us once you have this lab order form. Be sure to place an order Before getting your impressions made, so we can send you the lab order form.

Noise Protection

Depending on what type of environment you are in, you may need to get deep impressions from audiologist.  If you are in a loud to very loud environment you might need a higher level of protection.  Our at-home kit provides a very good shallow impression but for peak performance a deep impression is required.
